Jie Shen received a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Nanjing Tech University in 2018. He was a visiting researcher at the University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley) in 2017. He is currently a postdoctoral fellow at the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST). His research tackles grand challenges at the energy-environment nexus by creating and understanding nanochannels and membranes with high-efficiency mass-transport properties at the molecular level. His current work explores new schemes of manipulating, processing, and engineering materials for next-generation sustainable technologies, including energy-efficient separation, clean water production, carbon capture and utilization, renewable energy generation, flexible electronics, and more. His work has been published in high-impact journals, including Nature, Nature Materials, Nature Reviews Materials, Science Advance, Advanced Materials, and Angewandte Chemie International Edition. He has a Google Scholar citation of more than 4900 and an h-index of 26.
