Shaoqing Chen is a full professor of urban environmental management and climate change mitigation at Sun Yat-sen University. He was a young scientist at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis and a visiting scholar at University of Maryland. His works have been devoted to a range of subjects linked by the promotion of urban sustainability under a global change context, including urban energy metabolism and carbon emissions, energy- water-food- carbon nexus associated with cities, and the influence of climate change on economic development and human well-beings. Dr. Chen published over 60 peer-reviewed papers in top-ranking journals such as Nature Communications, Environmental Science & Technology, Renewable & Sustainable Energy Reviews, Applied Energy, Resources, Conservation & Recycling, and Earth’s Future. He is among the World’s Top 2% Scientists (Environmental Science) in 2021, and he won the Best Paper Award of the Chinese Society for Industrial Ecology (CSIE). He currently serves as Associate Editor and Guest Editor for a number of prestigious journals such as Frontiers in Sustainable Cities and Applied Energy.
