Dr. Yang is currently an assistant professor at the College of Environmental Sciences and Engineering, Peking University. He received his Ph.D. degree in Environmental Engineering in 2016 from the Pennsylvania State University. His major research interests are sustainable water treatment, renewable energy production and resource recovery. His research has been innovative and contributed to improving fundamental understanding of electrode design and air-catalyst-electrolyte interaction, and developing sustainable water treatment technologies such as microbial electrochemical systems, electrochemical advanced oxidation, electro-membrane separation and hydrogen recovery. Dr. Yang has published over 50 peer reviewed articles in top journals such as Energy & Environmental Science, Environmental Science & Technology, and Water Research. According to Google Scholar, his works have been cited over 2300 times and with an H index of 27. He is also a member of the International Society for Microbial Electrochemistry and Technology (ISMET) and the International Water Association (IWA).
