Bridget R. Scanlon 教授

The University of Texas at Austin US

Key words of expertise:  Impacts of climate variability and land-use change on recharge; Numerical models for simulating variably saturated flow and transport; Groundwater contamination and source attribution.
Short Bio: Bridget graduated from The University of Kentucky, Lexington, Kentucky with Ph.D. in Geology. Much of her research focuses on groundwater recharge in desert basins and the impacts of climate variability and change and land use/land cover change on recharge. Impacts of natural and anthropogenic sources of contamination on water quality are also addressed in many of our research studies. Our program is funded by federal sources including EPA and DOE and state sources including the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and Texas Water Development Board in addition to support from the Jackson School of Geosciences.
Bridget was recognized as a Fellow of the American Geophysical Union in 2015, a member of the National Academy of Engineering, the United States in 2016. She served as the Co-Chair of the National Academy of Engineering, Earth Resources Engineering Section (2020 – 2021), Chair of National Academy of Engineering, Earth Resources Engineering Peer Committee (2018 – 2019), Member of Committee on Future Directions of the U.S. Geological Survey's Energy Resources Program, NASEM, (2017- 2018). She is currently an associate editor on Water Resources Research (2011 – present) and an editorial board member of Environmental Research Letters (2012-present)
Bridget has received numerous honors, including the Web of Science Highly Cited Researcher (2019, 2020), AGU Hydrology Days Award (2019), Charles V. Theis Award for Groundwater: American Institute of Hydrology (2019), O.E. Meinzer Award, Geological Society of America (2019), AGU Hydrological Sciences Award (2018), Intl Association of Hydrogeologists Presidential Award (2018), M King Hubbard Award, National Groundwater Association (2016) National Academy of Engineering, Member (2016), American Geophysical Union, Fellow (2015), Geological Society of America Birdsall-Dreiss Distinguished Lecture Awards (2007), Geological Society of America, Fellow (2005)
