Dr. Kennedy C. ONYELOWE has a PhD (2012-2015) and MEng (2009-2010) degrees in Soil Mechanics and Geoenvironmental Engineering from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Nigeria and a BEng (1998-2003) degree in Civil Engineering from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Nigeria. With six (7) years post-PhD, he is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Civil Engineering, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture-Umudike, Nigeria, an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at the Department of Civil Engineering, Alex Ekwueme-Federal University Ndufu Alike Ikwo, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, Nigeria, Visiting Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Kampala International University, Kampala, Uganda and Proposals External Technical Reviewer at the Research and Innovations Fund, Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda. He is also the Principal Researcher for Research Group of Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Materials and Sustainability, Hanoi University of Mining and Geology, Hanoi, Vietnam, Lead Researcher, Geomechanics, Geotechnics & Geomaterials Research Lab, Department of Civil Engineering, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Nigeria and Partner, to the Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Research Group, College of Agriculture, Engineering and Science, Howard College Campus, University of KwaZulu-Natal, Durban, Republic of South Africa. He has also established aggressive and responsive research collaborations at the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati, India, University of the Peloponnese, Patras, Greece, Sastra Deemed University, India, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Andhra Pradesh, India, Vishnu Institute Technology, India, Brigham Young University, Utah, USA, Future University in Egypt, New Cairo, Egypt, University of Melbourne, Australia, and several other universities across the globe. As a member of several learned organizations and an astute researcher, he mentors over 50 young researchers globally and contributes to capacity building in his field of teaching and research. He is currently an editorial board member of the Frontiers in Built Environment-Geotechnical Engineering and edits two active special issues of the journal.
