Peng Liao 教授

Institute of Geochemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences 中国

Professor Peng Liao completed his PhD in 2016 in Environmental Science and Engineering at China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), and postdoctoral training at Southern University of Science and Technology before joining Institute of Geochemistry Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2020. In 2014-2015 he was a visiting research associate at Washington University in St. Louis. Peng’s research focuses on geochemical reactions that affect the fate and transport of colloids and associated contaminants and constituents in natural and engineered aquatic systems. He has also the skills and expertise in design in situ chemical oxidation or in situ chemical reduction technologies for remediation of contaminated sites. His recent work investigated the geochemistry of organic-metal colloids in groundwater-surface water systems, and developed sustainable electrochemical technologies for water clean and resource recovery. His current and recent research has been sponsored by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and Chinese Academy of Sciences. He has published more than 50 peer-reviewed papers, of which more than 20 were published in Environmental Science & Technology, Water Research, and Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta. He was authorized 3 invention patents regarding innovative groundwater remediation technologies. He was selected as the winners of the 2020 Environmental Science & Technology Excellence in Review Award and the 2020 Applied Geochemistry Excellence in Review Award.
