Dr. LIU Juan is Professor for School of Environmental Science and Engineering, Guangzhou University, Guangzhou, China. Her academic background research areas cover the studies on environmental contamination and geochemistry of seldom monitored trace toxic metal(loid)s in waters, soils, sediments and plants arising from typical industrial activities (e.g. mining and smelting), and set up measures to remove and recycle toxic metal(loid)s from wastewaters and establish remediation strategy towards contaminated sediments/soils. She spent two years (from 2007 to 2009) in Leipzig University, Germany for her Ph.D study under the joint scholarship by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst) obtained her Ph.D in 2010 from the Guangzhou Institute of Geochemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences. She was a visiting researcher at the Department of Earth Sciences, Oxford University from 2016 to 2018 in UK. In addition, she has participated actively in international scientific meetings, and served as a member of the organizing team for several international conferences. She has been acted as a principal investigator for over ten research
