Dr. Yiwen Liu is a Professor at School of Environmental Science and Engineering, Tianjin University. The principle aim of his research is to develop innovative and sustainable wastewater management solutions, by integrating interdisciplinary research between process engineering and environmental biotechnology. His research has been well documented in over 150 high-quality SCI journal publications. His major research interests are greenhouse gases (i.e., methane and nitrous oxide) emission and mitigation from wastewater systems, sewer processes (i.e., corrosion and hazardous emission control), biological nutrients removal from wastewater (i.e., N and P), resource and bioenergy recovery from wastewater (i.e., C), anaerobic digestion and fermentation, activated sludge, granular sludge and biofilm technology, and mathematical modelling of wastewater treatment processes.
